~Drove through snow showers Wednesday morning on my way to work on trees deep in Rappahannock County. On my way back to DC my clutch began acting like it's shot. So I'm spending today in denial, knowing that it's my only day off until Wednesday, & not wanting to deal with the trouble & cost of dropping the Camry off at the shop to get $800 of work done. Doesn't seem worth the effort. Maybe it's a sign to end my dependence on an outdated mode of transportation. Life would be less expensive without a car: no insurance, no fuel, no repairs, but it would also fuel a job search in the city--which would be pretty damn frightening. The incredible anger & stress I've built up in the last few months from twice-weekly drives out I-66 & back would be taken away--a definite plus! But I'd not have a stress-of-the-city reliever like tree climbing... hmmm. One of those times when it feels like the only sensible thing to do is dream big & act at last on going to Spain, or Buenos Aires.

~Spent all day in bed feeling ill. A long week culminated in eleven hours of work on Friday, followed by a visit to my old friend Rafal's bar (where TMC called me to announce he's been laidoff--so his DC peeps need to figure out a way to get him a job in the area), followed by a questionable visit to Saint-Ex with Julia, Emanuel, Laura & Adrian (where I laid open my wallet & induced the need for today's bed rest).
~Today's my daddy's 68th birthday. He's retiring next month.
~Looking forward to next week--the weather's supposed to be closer to seasonal (excepting possible snow showers on Tuesday) & I'll stay close to home kicking my cold & watching movies: the new Bond in theaters (maybe a Tuesday midday matinee), & on DVD: Straight No Chaser & War Dance. All this & FotoWeekDC is kicking it this week.
~Looking forward to my first-ever Pittsburgh visit to hang out with Mr. Corcoran for Thanksgiving.

~Done bin bizzay since my last post. Let's see... I attended my friend's beautiful wedding in the gorgeous autumnal Poconos landscape, helped elect Obama, installed the cool new photography show at Hemphill (Kendall Messick & Hiroshi Sugimoto), watched movies (good & bad), climbed trees, drank beer, read a little, checked out the groovy new Hamiltonian Gallery space, lusted after a quick December trip to Spain, & decided against acquiring a DSLR off of eBay just yet (still owe most of my '07 Fed. taxes + my late quarterly '08 estimated taxes... so I'm continuing to pay off my credit cards & beginning to get my Fed-paying ducks in a row).
