~Too much driving on US29 = BAH!
~Too many hours spent drinking coffee (even if I got to read a good book) in C'ville = BoredAAAAAAAAHm!
~Dizzee Rascal coming to 9:30 Club in May = WHOOO!
~Prica's Boo receiving his permanent residency = WoohooOoOoOOoO!!!
~Not enough cash on hand to pay bills due to too many canceled tree dates & my tendency to spend extravagantly = BOOOOOOO!
~Forgot to recommend Carlos Ruiz Zafon's Shadow of the Wind, an outstanding tale that hit me over the head & took me for one of the best rides I'd had in a book in quite a while. Carol said he has a new one coming out this summer.
~Feeling an urge to go Civil War battlefield-hopping. Not hopping on battlefields, but moving from one site to another.
~Spring is on the way!
~Had a couple bottles of Horton's Norton recently. It's a wine to which my brother introduced me many years ago.
~Want to get my old thesis pix together & talk to a legal venue in C'ville that my dad (months ago) mentioned may be interested in showing them.
~Need to see the NGA's photo show soon.
~Kamrafone: 1) Saturday I was green with envy when I received a pic of a Stella from (2) Rafal; 3) bar bathroom.

~W'boro; revisiting a tree; C'ville by night; view of an office; Ralph.

~Got pleasantly drunky in three hours after work, sobered up hanging with Joe for another three hours (hollered at the good Dr. Smith when he walked past), ate pizza & drank some more. Lovely night.
~Down to C'ville Monday. Supposed to have two midweek tree days, but the weather doesn't look promising.
~Pix: predictable; Camry rolls on; concrete Albemarle; Joe.

~Pruned a bunch of trees in Tuesday's nasty wind. As a result we decided to keep warm & fend off illness by not working Wednesday.
~So I hung out in C'ville for the better part of the day. Ran a few errands. Drank a couple pounds of mud at Mudhouse on the Downtown Mall while waiting to meet up with my brother for a quick natter. Bought a couple of art books & said hello to Carol at New Dominion Bookshop, "the oldest independent book seller in Virginia," & the best place to buy new books in Central Virginia. Headed up the road to DC in the early evening. A little north of Culpeper the clipper system caught up to me & began dusting the ground with snow. Had a nice quiet night in at Demon House.
~Today I wandered with Rafal down to 19th St for yummy lunch at Nooshi. Talked with Mike for a bit when I got back. Check his blog for a silly busybody response to an inane video he posted on his YouTube channel & his blog months ago that, according to his stats, attracted scarcely any viewers. Now I'm getting ready to sip some beer. Cheers.
~Happy Birthday Wendy!

~Saturated twilight; feeling of gaze; normal antics; meant to be; Christenberry's American U. opening.

~New self-p; Demon Stairs & Bathroom; Margaret leaves Dulles for New Zealand via SF in minutes; she expects 20-hours airborne.

~Today's Guardian has an interesting article on this collection in Orkney. I wanna go.
~After a long hiatus I've returned to that seething cauldron of nefarious no-good--Facebook.
~Bill Christenberry has an opening this Saturday from 6-9PM at the American University Museum at the Katzen Arts Center.
~Also this Saturday evening: my friend Behn Farahpour's photos from a recent month-long South American trip will be included in Touchstone Gallery's Slideluck Potshow.
~It was slick out last night! Nearly busted my non-existent butt a couple of times on the way to dinner at my girlfriend's house.
~Going to work at the gallery for a couple of hours this afternoon! Yay!!! Boredom be gone! May work brunch with Raf on Monday. Back to work with Lyt next week!
~I really need a new home & a free studio space to set up a bookmaking table. Cannot work & live in one room--truly doesn't work. Be careful what you wish for?! I know. Change is scary sometimes, but always essential. It's the people who think that the world is routine who scare me most. Every day is new--bringing fresh chances to step out of the familiar ruts we fondly, passive-aggressively, call home. Inertia relies on fear to keep opportunities at bay. Motion creates motion. Energy is good & fuels itself. Pauses are allowed once motion has begun, but the nature of it is such that one will want to keep moving once underway.
~Recently played: DAS EFX, Pavement's Brighten The Corners (I love Starlings of the Slipstream) & Wowee Zowee, Silver Jews' Bright Flight, Tom Petty, Erik B & Rakim, Herbie Hancock's Grammy winner River, Stan Getz, They Might Be Giants, + a few other randoms.

~Old pix: a cat from home; Mike becoming the Incredible Hulk.

~WaPo article on kissing research.
~Cold! Supposed to be in the teens tonight!
~Week off = good + bad: time to focus on catching up on crossing items off of multiple to-do lists, versus a week without income.
~Looking into getting all the paperwork for finally becoming a legal DC resident: license, car insurance & title....
~Thinking about seeing: Morcheeba, Gutter Twins, LAI, Van Halen, Feist, Malkmus & the Jicks.
~mumble mumble grumble growl, never toss in the towel.
~Drove down 29 through an autumnal sunset.
~Met my family for dinner at a Brazilian restaurant to say farewell to my younger sister before she leaves for New Zealand next week.
~Went bowling afterwards & it was amusing.

~No new pix.
~Exhausted from a fantastic pair of hot days in the trees of Rappahannock & Madison. This one big white oak really made me stretch out & I can feel some seldom used muscles aching as a result.
~Dealing with U-Haul sucks. Driving a U-Haul sucks. Moving Kim's art & large houseplants to Towson on Monday was kind of fun, once I finally got everything wrapped, packed, & lashed in. It shouldn't have been the all-day ordeal that it was, but that's the way these things go. Was exhausted by the end--nearly fell asleep while Shaun was driving us back to DC.
~Finally burrowed into Love Is A Mix Tape & finished it at Lyt's.
~Next up: Let Fury Have The Hour, The Punk Rock Politics of Joe Strummer, David Lynch's Catching The Big Fish, a literary mystery from my mom: The Shadow of the Wind, I need to delve into a pair of books I recently received on Balthus, & Ed Ruscha, & there's always that fat Walker Evans bio waiting patiently on my shelf to put me fast to sleep.
~A long week. Next two days at the gallery. Whooo.
