7/29: Traipsing through Cheney's woods on our way back to EDupont (it's French, so say it with an accent--any accent'll do) from Marissa's 2nd KNEW Gallery opening followed by sushi with Gerry (not Geri), we (Eric, Mike T, and me) happened across a few bucks. I wanted to pick them up, butt it didn't make cents too dew sew.

I'd like to make a preemptive refutation against whatever ridiculous claims that may be made in the future about this photo. This photo was NOT made with a night-vision scope, nor has it EVER been on the front page of the NY Times. Possibly the New York Times, but never the NY Times! -Your friend, in earnest (not Ernest), &rew, editor, author, king, lady in waiting, and jefe/honcho/master of my domain.

7/28: Hung out with Dave at his gallery. Then a few 1841-ers trekked to Sterling for a bowling adventure.

7/26: A couple of grab shots from I-66.

7/24: Craig Webb and Sara Pomerance came over to show some of their art. Sara is returning to the University of New Mexico's fine art photography graduate program for her last year. She shared her current project, a series of video pieces focusing on her parents. It is a funny, intriguing glance into how someone else's family operates as seen through the eyes and lens of a trusted family member. I was caught by surprise when the twelve-minute running time had elapsed and the DVD came to an end.

Craig shared the fruits of his hard work and printmaking talent. Some of the prints were in his Corcoran thesis show, but I got to see them up close, loose, and found the layering of text within the prints very cool. He has a print in Languages of Silence, a show juried by J.W. Mahoney, at the Greater Reston Arts Center. The show is up until August 18th and he's supposed to take part in the artist's talk scheduled for 7PM on the 1st.

7/23: Me with: Dorito/Minerva, Bosco, my upright, my mama, and my daddy. A fun overnight trip home for a family party. Tossed horse shoes and ate well.

7/19: Worked in the Virginia heat for a few days with my friend Lyt, ate delicious venison stirfry, dipped in the cold Hazel River, swam in an awesome pond, watched dragonflies mate, saw Great Blue Herons and a muskrat, went home and checked out the fields, hung out with my cats and dogs, plunked on my 4-string Warwick Thumb bass, outran a storm on its way across Rockfish Gap, did Charlottesville errands, and raced up 29 to DC.

7/16: Wandered the city with Mike and AJ, pondered the synchronicity of thoughts colliding with images, saw sights and sites I liked, listened to music from a peace-seeking Silver Jews fan, ran into Alex V, Daniel, and Sara P.

7/4: Had a few people over for a patriotic get-together. Two highlights: Mike bellowing "Death To America!" for a few hours (that really took me back to being a kid when we used to chant that at all the patriotic parades and rallies), and the rain chasing us indoors and requiring the quick removal of sofas from the yard.

Though I was ticked off for a good portion of the time for reasons that had nothing to do with anyone present, I still had a good time even if the last stragglers wouldn't leave of their volition and made me eat them.
